As a lifelong dog lover, I’m drawn to incorporating canine elements into my designs in a way that feels classic and enduring. I believe much of today’s mass-produced dog decor feels a little too themed at times and lacks the refinement and timeless style found in traditional interiors.

When browsing antique stores, I’m always keeping an eye out for pieces that reference dogs—artwork, statues, books, and European hunting-motif tapestries are among my favorite pieces to find. These pieces feel rooted in heritage, celebrating a love of dogs without reading as themed or cheesy.

Dog statues in particular are some of my favorite antique and vintage accents to incorporate in my home. Generally speaking, I believe a simple sculpture or statue can often become the grounding element a vignette needs, adding balance and visual weight while keeping the overall composition elevated and well-curated. When it comes to dog statues specifically, their presence adds a sophisticated and charming appeal I just can’t get enough of.

About the Look.

This look was centered on heritage style, bringing together rich tones and collected charm to create a space that feels timeless and comforting.

Every piece in this vignette is vintage or antique. A dark mahogany side table anchors the look, adding warmth and depth while grounding the overall composition.

The antique wolfhound statue serves as the focal point. Crafted by Jennings Brothers, the piece blends refined craftsmanship with understated charm. Its smaller scale makes it especially versatile, allowing it to work effortlessly on a bookshelf, console table, or sideboard without overwhelming the space.

Framed dog prints bring unmistakable classic charm. Their simplicity supports the sculptural elements in the vignette without competing with them, creating visual balance.

Slender brass candleholders were placed atop a stack of antique books to introduce warmth and a sense of history. The refined profile of the candleholders and smaller scale of the books keeps the styling light and intentional, allowing the wolfhound sculpture to remain the focal point.

An antique stoneware jug in a weathered brown-gray tone was added as the final layer, styled with simple fall berry picks. This element pulls together the rich, earthy palette and adds texture without feeling overstyled.

The result is a vignette that feels rooted in tradition and quietly collected. Thoughtful and timeless, with a careful balance of simplicity and style, it reflects an approach to styling that values history, craftsmanship, and enduring design.
