A Regal Moment: Styling with Antique Royal Blue Porcelain

Porcelain has long been a hallmark of timeless interiors, but admittedly, it’s a material I’ve only recently opened myself up to styling with.
When it comes to vases, I’ve always gravitated toward the warm patina of aged brass or silver and the timeworn character of a well-loved glazed or stoneware piece of pottery. Porcelain, by contrast, often felt a bit too precious for my taste.
Not anymore.
I recently found a refined selection of porcelain vases that changed the way I see—and style—porcelain. The antique royal blue vase featured below is one of those pieces (with more to come soon—so stay tuned!).
About the Look.
While blue hasn’t traditionally been a color I gravitate toward, certain shades—especially when paired with traditional silhouettes and aged details—bring an unexpected sense of luxury. Royal blue, in particular, has long been associated with classic European interiors.
When styled thoughtfully, blue reads as elegant, enduring, and quietly regal, adding depth without overpowering a space. Its richness allows it to function almost as a neutral in traditional settings, grounding a vignette while still offering visual interest.
Though royal and navy blues are often associated with coastal-style interiors today, they feel just as at home in classic spaces when paired with traditional forms and aged finishes, like we’ve shown here.
This Antique French Royal Blue Porcelain Vase is a beautiful example, bringing subtle yet noticeable richness and a regal presence to this vignette.

At approximately 10 inches tall, this vase is perfectly scaled for a small console table—as shown above—or for shelf styling.
Its deep, rich blue hues subtly shift with the light, adding depth and visual interest. The slender silhouette and ornate handle detailing create a balanced look, keeping the overall feel refined and elegant.
We love this piece styled with just a few roses or floral stems, as shown here.
It also makes a thoughtful gift. With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, this piece offers a beautiful way to elevate traditional flowers into something even more timeless.
