Hi! I’m Casey, founder of Refuge Interiors.
A love of decorating and the thrill of uncovering pieces with history have been an enduring love of mine throughout my life. While this business has evolved over the years, my passion remains the same: creating beautiful and meaningful spaces that feel lived-in, layered, and timeless.
A Lifelong Love for Decorating
Interior styling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my mom was an interior decorator and sold home decor. I spent my childhood watching her host home shows and style spaces with such care. I was the little girl forever rearranging her Barbie house, restyling her childhood bedroom just for fun, and eventually turning my first home into a space that reflected my love for design.
A Passion Rooted in Vintage & Storytelling
I’ve spent years sourcing antique pieces with history and soul. I’ve always believed that truly beautiful interiors begin with a thoughtful curation of beautiful things. Each find tells its own story, and together they become the layers that give a home its charm.
When I bought my first home, weekends were spent at antique shops, slowly building a space that felt like me. Over time, I fell in love with the process—curating a collection piece by piece, then bringing it to life through thoughtful styling. That passion grew even stronger when I met my husband, Zachary, whose love of history made sourcing antiques something we could both enjoy.
The Beginning of Refuge Interiors
The Refuge story didn’t begin with a perfectly mapped-out plan. Rather, it started simply, and a little unexpectedly.
In 2019, I stumbled upon a vintage card catalog in an antique store and decided to give it new life. I opened an Etsy shop, Refuge Interiors, just to list that one piece, and it sold almost instantly. That first sale was more than a transaction, it was the spark that ignited a journey I didn’t yet know I was meant to take.
At the time, Refuge was just a side project alongside my full-time job. I enjoyed transforming the occasional piece of furniture, but deep down, I knew furniture flipping wasn’t my long-term vision.
By 2020, I was ready to take Refuge more seriously. I dove into learning the business side of interior design, refining my skills, launching my website, and taking on small design projects, mostly for friends and family.
As time went on, my vision sharpened. I realized my true passion was in home decor—finding it, styling it, and eventually passing it on to others. It brought me back to my earliest memories as a little girl, surrounded by beautiful pieces, endlessly rearranging and decorating anything I could get my hands on.
The business has grown slowly and intentionally over time through small steps, lessons learned, and plenty of figuring things out along the way. In 2023, I finally took the leap and went all in, launching my first vintage drop and committing full time to building my business and brand, and I haven’t looked back since.
