I love a vintage Christmas, and this year I wanted to really lean into an old-world, Victorian-inspired look for my holiday decorating. One element I knew I wanted to highlight was bells—lots of them!
There’s something undeniably nostalgic and charming about a collection of hanging brass bells during the holidays. Of course, nothing truly compares to the character of authentic antique brass bells. But they can be difficult to find, and when you need multiples to complete a look, the cost can add up quickly.
Instead, I found a way to create the look I envisioned with a simple DIY for under $5, easily making this one of the most affordable Christmas accents you can bring into your home this season!
Materials Needed.
Step-By-Step Instructions.
Cut all the bells off the wire stems with needle-nose pliers, making sure to remove any remaining wire.
Measure and cut two pieces of cord, then fold each one in half. Hold them up together to your garland or ribbon and stagger the ends until you’re happy with the lengths.
Tie the two folded cords together near the top, leaving a small loop for hanging. You should now have four ends at staggered lengths.
Tie one bell onto each cord end, then trim any excess cord.
Hang, layer, and enjoy!
