Spring is a season of renewal, inviting a sense of refresh that extends from our homes to our souls. It offers a quiet opportunity to slow down, reflect, and reset after the heaviness of winter has come and gone.
For me, springtime is much more about finding simple, intentional changes that can bring a calmer feel into everyday spaces, rather than a full redesign. While this can sometimes mean incorporating a lighter color palette, I still prefer to maintain depth and warmth within my designs and styling.

One space that is always enjoyable to refresh for any season is bookshelves and for me, this hutch was the perfect place to start.
I wanted to keep the warmth and texture I’m naturally drawn to but also give a subtle nod to the season, so I opted for incorporating just a few thoughtful vintage pieces to create a look that feels fresh yet familiar.
This look still holds that sense of depth and comfort I love, but at the same time brings just a slightly lighter touch for spring.
About the Look.
Typically, our vignettes are styled mostly with pieces we offer in the shop, making it simple for the reader to shop the look and recreate it in their own home. However, one piece in this particular shelf arrangement that is not currently available, and for now remains part of my personal collection, is this beautiful brass crucifix.
This piece quietly sets the tone for the entire look and feels especially meaningful with Easter just around the corner. It serves as a subtle yet powerful way for us to honor our faith in our home.
My husband and I found this crucifix fairly recently at an antique store after searching for one for a very long time, which made this particular find feel especially significant.
Though smaller in scale, this piece is perfectly suited for shelf styling, and while we still hope to find a larger one someday, it remains a meaningful spiritual heirloom in our home and something we are grateful to see and reflect on each day.
So with the crucifix firmly at the heart of this look, I then began layering in some of our newer spring-inspired pieces from the shop.
I began with our Vintage Crackle Glaze Chinoiserie Style Lidded Jar.
While this piece was likely produced in the late 20th century and is not especially old, it is a substantial and beautifully crafted home accent.
What I love about this particular piece is that rather than relying on bold color or heavy ornamentation, this jar makes its statement through its size, standing about 11 inches tall and 7 inches wide.
Additionally, it features a delicate chinoiserie-inspired ivy pattern that introduces a softness which is just perfect for spring.
Finally, its solid brass footed base adds a beautiful and elevated finishing touch, that brings added warmth and traditional appeal.
This jar can easily be used as a sculptural piece on a bookshelf as shown here, for storage on a coffee table or console table, or even thoughtfully repurposed as a statement candle, making it as functional as it is beautiful.
To bring in an additional spring-inspired touch, I paired a set of Brass Peacock Candleholders. I love the subtle sense of movement the bird motif brings to this look, especially for spring. When these beautiful pieces are styled against a clean white or soft off-white backdrop as shown here, their silhouette becomes more pronounced, allowing their sculptural quality to stand out and really shine.
Next, I incorporated another very meaningful piece, an Original Antique Drawing. This heirloom was discovered while in Barcelona, Spain and it is a piece I’m drawn to year-round for the gentle warmth it brings to any space. For this look in particular, I especially appreciate the balance of light and dark it introduces. The sepia tones lend a softness, while the darker frame adds definition. This contrast helps ground the vignette, bringing a sense of harmony to the surrounding lighter elements while maintaining the richness and depth I love.
For more movement, I added a Small Stoneware Crock and paired it with faux dried rose stems (linked below). I’m always drawn to stoneware crocks, jars, and vases for their age and rich texture. This piece, in particular, features a unique blend of earthy green and brown tones, adding warmth while still feeling soft and organic. The roses offer a classic nod to spring, finishing the look with a soft, seasonal touch.
No spring look for me is ever complete without a touch of silver, and for this vignette, I incorporated our Mini Silverplated Champagne Bucket Match Holder. This piece features a richly aged, warm patina that is simply beautiful.
Made in England and detailed with classic lion head handles, it introduces a timeless, traditional element to the arrangement. While it’s styled here with matches, it could just as easily transition into a spring tablescape, perfect for holding toothpicks or small serving pieces.
Finally, to complete the bookshelf, I incorporated an Italian Sculpture and layered in volumes from our Library of the World’s Best Literature collection. The white alabaster sculpture brings a lightness that feels beautiful for spring while still maintaining a classic presence. The books introduce height and structure, breaking up the sculptural elements and creating a more balanced, collected feel.
Altogether, this bookshelf feels refreshed for the season while still grounded in warmth, depth, and a sense of cohesion with the rest of the space.
