We spend countless hours each year sourcing vintage finds across the globe, with hundreds of pieces passing through the shop over the course of a single year.

In this post, I’m sharing a countdown of my favorite finds from 2025, starting at number ten and working all the way up to my very favorite piece of the year—and possibly my favorite find of all time.

Some of these one-of-a-kind pieces sold quickly, while others are still available to shop, but every piece on this list earned its place.

From pieces sourced close to home to those discovered abroad in Spain, this past year brought a collection of finds that truly stayed with me.

Each stood out for a different reason, whether it was the craftsmanship, the patina, the history behind it, or simply the moment it was found. Together, these are the pieces that I remember most from the year!

My Top 10 Favorite Vintage and Antique Decor Finds of the Year.

#10 Large Tan Stoneware Crock.

I’ve always loved the look of vintage and antique pottery, especially old crocks and jugs.

This large tan stoneware crock was a piece I found at an antique store in Wisconsin. It was tucked away in a corner beneath a bench, partially hidden from view. The moment I pulled it out from under the dusty bench, I was completely drawn to it.

There’s something about the warm tone of the stoneware and the scale of the piece that immediately caught my eye.

It’s the perfect size for holding wooden utensils on a kitchen counter, adding a sense of old-world European charm and giving any kitchen that lived-in, collected look I am always striving for.

The soft, earthy coloring and unique size set it apart from many of the crocks I’ve come across, giving it a presence that feels both substantial and timeless, making it one of my favorite finds of 2025.

#9. Authentic Reproduction Apothecary Balance Scale, Made in Italy.

This piece was discovered during a visit to an antique store in Illinois. It was our first time in the shop, and it happened to be in the very first booth we walked into.

Positioned high on top of a cabinet, it caught both Zach’s and my attention at the exact same moment and immediately stopped us in our tracks.

Zach pulled it down so I could examine it more closely, and the condition alone made the decision easy. It was an instant “add to cart” moment. He carried it straight to the checkout counter, marking the beginning of what would become our growing stack of finds.

Though not a true antique, this vintage piece is beautifully made and carries a presence that immediately draws you in. Crafted in Italy, it has a sense of history and character that gives it depth beyond its age alone. Refined detailing, excellent condition, and generous scale give the piece a polished, elevated feel.

I could picture it almost immediately styled on floor-to-ceiling white or soft off-white library-style bookshelves, where its scale and finish would truly stand out. Whether placed on a bookshelf or used as a focal point on a coffee table, it makes a strong, timeless statement. But for me, it was the way we came upon it, paired with the beautiful condition of the piece, that truly set it apart.

#8 Original Antique Oil Painting on Canvas, Moody Violet Still Life, Signed

This moody still life was such a fun find. We actually discovered it at the same store where we found the reproduction scale mentioned above.

Though I’m hesitant to admit it, this piece didn’t catch my eye right away, which is a good reminder of why it’s always worth taking a second pass.

We had already made our way through the store but still had some time, so we decided to walk through a few booths once more. The piece was leaning on the floor against a chair, and as soon as we stepped into the booth, I spotted it and immediately went straight for it.

The moment I picked it up, I looked at Zach with that familiar “how did I almost miss this” expression. As I examined it more closely, the detailing on the back made it clear right away that it was an antique, and I was honestly speechless.

It’s a stunning piece, set in a beautiful period frame, with just the right amount of moody richness. Even better, we found it just in time for the start of fall styling, which feels perfectly suited to a piece like this.

Though beautiful in its own right, this piece stands out to me because of how close we came to missing it. Sometimes, especially on a first visit to a really good store, it can feel overwhelming. With so much to take in, it’s easy to move too quickly and overlook something special. This piece was a reminder to slow down, take another look, and trust that the best finds aren’t always the ones you notice first.

#7 Antique Jennings Bros. Cast Metal Cocker Spaniel.

This piece stands out to me for two reasons. First, it’s a substantial dog statue, and if you’ve been around here for any length of time, you know I’ve always had a deep love for dogs.

The second reason is more personal: a bit of regret.

In March of 2024, I came across a similar piece—this Antique Jennings Bros. Cast Metal Irish Setter Statue on a Wood Base.

I was completely drawn to the Irish Setter piece from the moment I spotted it, but at the time, I hesitated. It was very much an investment piece for my business, and I questioned whether I could justify the price, knowing it might take a while to sell.

When it sold a few months later, my excitement over the sale was almost instantly overshadowed by regret for having ever listed it.

Then, about a month and a half after that statue sold, we lost our beloved hound dog, Caesar. While he wasn’t an Irish Setter and looked nothing like the dog in that piece, the statue came to remind me of him in an unexpected way. Some objects carry emotion beyond their form, and though it’s hard to explain, that one did for me.

After the piece sold, I began the very difficult hunt to try to locate another, this time for my personal collection. If you know anything about vintage and antiques, you know that nothing lingers quite like the pieces you don’t buy. And for resellers, the pieces we sell don’t always leave our hearts either.

Eventually, I did find a similar statue. It didn’t have the wood base, and like all vintage pieces, it had its own unique charm.

Looking back, that original find still makes me smile, not only because of the piece itself, but because it marked a turning point in my business. It was one of the first times I trusted myself enough to truly move forward with investing in higher-end statement antiques.

All this to say that when I spotted this Cocker Spaniel piece at an antique store earlier this year, I didn’t hesitate.

Emotions aside, Jennings Bros. statues are magnificent pieces. They’re known for their craftsmanship and presence, and the silver tone of their dog statues is especially striking. Timeless and grounded, these pieces offer a beautiful way to honor a love of dogs through decor in a traditional and enduring way.

For me, this Cocker Spaniel statue represented more than a beautiful object. It felt like a full-circle moment, honoring my love of dogs, the growth of this business, and the lessons learned along the way.

#6 Set of Brass Candleholders with Snuffer.

It might surprise some of you that this next find made the list, but that’s part of what makes this so fun.

This set of brass candleholders with attached snuffers is incredibly unique, and for that reason alone, it stands out as one of my favorite finds of 2025.

I found the set at an antique mall in Missouri. The candleholders themselves are beautiful, with a slender, elegant silhouette. Rather than staggered heights, they mirror each other perfectly, which gives them a strong sense of balance and symmetry that I love.

Each holder features a delicate chain with an attached snuffer. There’s a small opening at the base of the candleholder designed to anchor the snuffer and keep the chain straight, but I’ve styled them here with the snuffers attached at the top, allowing the chain to loop down.

I love the subtle movement this creates, while still feeling structured and refined. It’s a beautiful and truly distinctive set, the kind of find that feels both unexpected and timeless and in all my years of sourcing, I’ve yet to see another set quite like these.

#5 Framed 18th Century French Engravings.

These antique engravings will forever be among my favorite finds.

What sets them apart for me comes down to a few things. First, there are two of them, and I love the way they work together. Stacked, they create a striking visual moment.

The second detail is the color. Lately, I’ve been especially drawn to incorporating touches of silver into both our home and the pieces I source for the shop. Silver feels timeless to me and carries a strong sense of heritage, bringing a quiet luxury to any space.

Each engraving is framed in a fine silver-tone frame that beautifully complements the gray and charcoal tones within the artwork itself. The combination adds warmth and contrast, resulting in a look that feels balanced, layered, and enduring.

Finally, the way we found them makes these engravings especially memorable. We were on our way home from a road trip and, on a whim, stopped at an antique store we had never visited in a small town in Illinois.

We loved the store so much that we vowed to return in a few weeks when we had more time to browse. That’s when I spotted this beautiful set and knew they had to come home with us for the shop.

Together, these engravings capture the sense of heritage and timeless style that draws me to antiques in the first place.

#4 The Works of Washington Irving, 1851, Set of 14.

Simply put, this set made the list for 2025 because it is quite possibly the most beautiful set of books I have ever sourced.

I found them at an antique store in Missouri that we’ve visited several times before. They were tucked away inside a locked glass cabinet, which for me usually warrants only a quick glance before moving on.

I understand why antique stores use glass cabinets, but as a shopper, they’re not my favorite. It’s often difficult to find someone to unlock them, and they’re frequently so full that you can’t even tell if you’re interested in a piece without opening the door. When I’m short on time, those cabinets are usually the first area I skip altogether.

This was one of those days when we were short on time. For some reason, though, I didn’t skip the cabinets—and I’m so glad I didn’t!

These books were locked away, and as expected, I couldn’t properly see the tags to know what they were, how much they cost, or assess their condition without pulling them out. Tracking down a sales associate took some effort, and when I finally did, enthusiasm was, let’s say, limited. Still, the moment I had them in hand, I knew they were something special.

The coloring and quantity of this set are what truly won me over. The rich navy and red tones bring a traditional, timeless feel that immediately elevates a space. And the fact that there were fourteen volumes sealed the deal. I love styling shelves with a larger set of books—ten or more if possible—because it creates a sense of uniformity and balance that I find incredibly striking. Even now, they remain one of the standout finds of 2025 in my mind.

#3 XL Turned Wood Vase.

We’ve made it to the top three, and this next find was a true joy to uncover.

One of the greatest advantages that comes with experience is knowing exactly what a piece is the moment you spot it. There’s no second guessing—just an immediate recognition that something special is in front of you.

This XL turned wood vase was exactly that.

It was tucked into the corner of a booth, positioned right along the aisle. I was scanning the space as I walked past when it caught my eye instantly.

At the time, it was filled with long branches, which only added to its presence and helped me immediately understand its impressive scale, which was better than I could have even hoped.

In all my years of sourcing thus far, I’ve come across only three turned wood vases like this, and I remember each one clearly. This piece stands apart purely because of its size. Standing over a foot tall, it makes a striking statement in any space.

The dark, timeworn wood adds to its appeal, bringing a rich, rustic warmth that feels both grounded and elevated. Over the months I’ve had it in the shop, I’ve styled it countless ways, and it continues to stand out every time.

It’s a rare, beautifully aged piece, and one I’m genuinely honored to have sourced for the shop.

#2 Antique Oil on Canvas, Portrait of a Women at a Desk.

Number two is an especially meaningful piece. For me, its appeal lies equally in its moody presence and the story behind how it was found and brought home.

This 19th-century oil painting was sourced during a trip to Madrid, Spain.

Madrid was the final stop on our trip through Spain with some of our closest friends. While the trip was primarily for leisure, we did spend time early on exploring antique markets in Barcelona. I had sourced a few smaller pieces so far on the trip, but I was still hoping to find something more significant, ideally a painting.

As the trip drew to a close, I had nearly accepted that it simply wasn’t meant to happen. That’s when my friend Jenna unexpectedly led us to one of the most remarkable antique areas I’ve ever encountered.

We wandered into a tucked-away courtyard with a fountain at its center, surrounded by antique shops and exterior staircases leading to even more antique shops on a second level. The setting was an absolute dream and the antiques themselves were unlike anything I’d seen before—pieces with a level of authenticity you could feel the moment you touched them, and price tags that reflected that quality.

This particular portrait was hanging on the back wall of one of the smaller shops, and it caught my eye immediately. Still, I hesitated. It was a significant investment, and I wasn’t fully confident it would make the journey home safely.

We left the shop and continued browsing elsewhere. I picked up a few books along the way, but my thoughts kept returning to this painting.

Eventually, I went back.

While negotiation isn’t my favorite part of the process, it’s something I’ve grown more comfortable with over time. I returned to the shop knowing there was some risk involved with getting the piece home safely, and eventually we arrived at a price that felt right for both sides. That made taking the leap feel possible.

That decision proved to be the right one. The painting arrived home without issue, and to make the story even more meaningful, it was eventually purchased by one of my very first and longest-supporting customers.

This piece stands out not only for its beauty, but for where it was found, the experience surrounding it, and the confidence it took to bring it home.

#1 Antique Very Fine Oil on Board, Portrait.

The time has finally arrived for my favorite find of 2025.

Remember that small antique shop in a small Illinois town we stopped into on a whim? The one I mentioned earlier, where we later returned and found the engravings above? This piece is what we discovered on that very first visit.

I was completely mesmerized. This was the first time I looked at a piece of art and truly felt something special. I was drawn to it on a level that surprised me. The decision was immediate. The price didn’t matter. The details didn’t matter. I had to have it the moment I saw it.

Everything about it felt right. From the coloring to the fine detailing to the frame itself, it was—and still is—a perfect portrait in my opinion. That feeling only deepened when I learned it was a true antique piece and an oil painting at that.

The overall presence of this piece captures everything I love most about antiques and traditional, heritage-inspired interiors. Nothing about it feels dated or tired. Instead, it carries a quiet sophistication—the kind of piece you expect to see anchoring a polished living room or study, perhaps above a fireplace. The kind of portrait that—these days—I often see in those AI-generated interior renderings, but with one important difference: this one is real. Authentically aged, thoughtfully made, and sourced by hand.

The best part about this find is that I walked into the shop with no real expectations at all. Discovering this painting instantly changed that.

To this day, that antique store sits firmly at the top of my list, and I can say with certainty that this portrait is my most meaningful find and my number one pick of 2025.

Final Thoughts.

For me, this past year has been filled with countless sourcing adventures that led to some truly treasured finds. These top ten pieces, in particular, stand out as some of the most meaningful. Some are memorable for their rarity, while others are special because of the stories they carry and the unexpected ways in which they were discovered.

There’s something deeply meaningful about preserving pieces from the past and giving them a place in the present, and that process continues to inspire me in ways I never could have expected when I started this journey so many years ago.

As we say goodbye to 2025 and look ahead, I’m excited for the many sourcing adventures still to come. I genuinely love the process of finding and selecting each piece for the shop. Every piece is chosen with great care and intention, and I’m deeply honored to share Refuge Interiors finds with those who appreciate the beauty, history, and soul found in old things.
