Interior Styling Details for Valentine’s Day That Feel Timeless and Elevated

I’ve never been one for overly themed holiday decor. I tend to lean toward seasonal styling instead, adding subtle nods to holidays like Easter, Independence Day, and Memorial Day without fully transforming the house. Christmas, however, is my exception and the one holiday when I happily embrace a full seasonal transformation in our home.

Valentine’s Day, on the other hand, has always been one holiday I’ve quietly passed by when it comes to decorating.

But this year, I found myself thinking—why not?

I’ve always believed in romanticizing everyday moments. Dressing up for a meal at home, letting a fire crackle for no particular reason, writing a thoughtful note to your spouse, or creating a beautiful charcuterie board for a quiet Sunday afternoon are small gestures that turn the everyday into something meaningful.

Because of that, Valentine’s Day to me feels less like a holiday that requires bold decor and more like an invitation to be intentional.

As it approaches, I’ve been reflecting on subtle ways to acknowledge it—focusing on timeless, elevated touches that feel romantic without being obvious or overdone.

Below, I’m sharing a few simple ideas to bring that same thoughtful atmosphere into your own home.

Using Candelabras to Create Atmosphere.

Is there anything more classic than a glowing candelabra?

These old-world accents bring a romantic, enchanting feel to a space year-round, making them a staple in classic interiors.

For Valentine’s Day, however, they feel especially fitting—an effortless way to layer warmth and atmosphere into your home without leaning into anything overtly themed.

Though often reserved for more formal settings, larger or more ornate candelabras feel particularly appropriate this time of year, when their sculptural presence and candlelit glow naturally evoke romance.

Whether centered on a tablescape as a dramatic focal point or styled simply on a small console, as we’ve done here, they introduce a soft ambient glow that transforms the mood of a room.

Used intentionally, a candelabra does more than decorate a space—it creates an intimate atmosphere that feels timeless, romantic, and beautifully considered.

Styling with Cherub Details.

Cherub motifs have long been used as decorative elements in art and architecture, appearing on everything from sculptural objects and furniture to lighting. Their association with love, warmth, and protection gives these details a natural place in romantic and classic interiors.

These are motifs I particularly love to incorporate year-round for the subtle sculptural interest they bring to a space.

Around Valentine’s Day, however, they take on a slightly more romantic presence, feeling intentional without tipping into anything overtly themed.

When these details appear on candleholders or wall sconces in particular, they offer a gentle nod to the occasion while still feeling classic.

Making a Simple Floral Swap.

Switching out your florals and stems is always one of the first tips we emphasize when it comes to seasonal and holiday styling. It’s a small change, but it can completely shift the mood of a space.

For Valentine’s Day, creating a romantic atmosphere can be as simple as replacing your everyday stems with faux roses.

When it comes to roses, I prefer red and soft beige tones in my designs for their timeless beauty and understated elegance.

Even the simplest floral swap can feel elevated when styled with intention, which naturally brings us to the final detail—the vase.

Elevating Florals with Decorative Vases.

As you might imagine, the vessel you choose plays just as important a role as the florals themselves, because the vase has the power to anchor the arrangement and set the tone for the entire vignette.

Flowers are just flowers until they’re paired with the right vase.

For Valentine’s Day, incorporating a decorative antique vase instantly elevates even the simplest florals. Timeless materials like porcelain, brass, silver, or natural stone add depth and character, turning a basic bouquet into a considered design moment.

If you’re styling with fresh flowers, be sure your vase is watertight and able to hold water. But if you prefer faux stems, this is where antique vessels can truly shine.

The simplest florals can become a true statement when arranged in a sculptural or timeworn antique vase, offering the same softness and romance without the upkeep.

Timeless Details Over Themed Decor.

By focusing on a few intentional details, you can create an elegant, enchanting space for Valentine’s Day without relying on themed decor. The best part is that many of these thoughtful touches can remain on display long after the holiday has ended, if you choose—and that’s the beauty of classic, timeless details over themed decor.
